Finding the right animal

To be honest I didn't give this much thought after class. I thought that the right choice for an animal would just come to me, well, it didn't. I went online and took some quizzes, my highest score was for a hawk, and then second was a swan. Neither of these animals seemed right. I called up my best friend and  explained what we were doing in this class, she tried to help me think. Lion, dragonfly, bird, are examples of the animals she thought of when she thought of me. I like to be in charge, so the lion made sense. I also like to look at the positive things in life which reminds me of a dragon-fly. Out of all of these options I feel more inclined to the dragon-fly, helping people with problems is something that comes to me, and in a way dragon-flies guide people with the light they produce.

I love dogs and other animals, but i didn't think they would be my power animals. "The animal world has much to teach us"(Anthology 112), and I would love to learn from such a graceful and giving animal such as the dragonfly.

I am pretty sure that the dragon-fly has not always been my power animal. When I was a little girl my parents bought me a little brown bear, I named her Paloma, I loved that thing more than anything, and I owned many more stuffed bears, the brown bear could have been my power animal as a child, but not anymore.

I find nature to be one of the most overlooked beauties on earth. If people could just take a second and look around, appreciate animals and their role on this planet, we would all be less uptight. "We're often too busy to connect with our deeper selves"(Anthology 120), I think that was definitely the case this week and part of the reason I couldn't think of a power animal. I don't know if I have made the right decision with the dragon-fly, but I am willing to learn from it or wait until another animal comes to me.
